Jennie Parke Matheson

Jennie is leading the Massage for Hospitals and Hospitals Workshop and co-leading Going into Teaching with Sarah Cohen

Jennie began her career in the performing arts, initially as a stage & production manager, then as an arts administrator – before moving into the corporate world to produce conferences and large scale events.

During the 1990’s she joined The Terrence Higgins Trust as a volunteer and worked in several capacities over a 6 year period, including co-managing the North London Buddy group and devising & running a series of sex education workshops for secondary school pupils.

Several years later, having received Healing for the first time, she looked further into energy work and its associated therapies and decided to train. Two years later she was accredited as a Healer. To augment her energy work she studied Chakra Psychology and Crystal Therapy, and explored Feng Shui, Dowsing and Earth Healing.

Aware of the need for increased physical contact when working with her clients, she qualified in Deep Tissue Massage, then gradually added Hot Stone, Pregnancy and Indian Head Massage to her repertoire – and recently added Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Jennie established her business, White Wave, in 2008 and has been practicing as a healer/holistic massage therapist ever since.

She delivers one-on-one or small group training in massage for use in hospitals & hospices, having worked in the Complementary Therapy Department at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, giving massage on the wards. And trains ward volunteers for the NW Anglia NHS Trust.

She specialises in working with clients with autism and dementia, and runs workshops for the Kith & Kids Charity

With Earle Abrahamson, MTI’s chair, Jennie founded Hands-On Training in 2012 – and as an accredited MTI Tutor teaches the practical and business elements of the MTI Diploma Course in Holistic Massage. Hands-On also presents a diverse range of CPD workshops and in 2019 will start its new MTI Sports & Performance Diploma Course.

Jennie was the MTI London rep from 2011 to 2013 and a member of the London committee prior to that. She produced the MTI Annual Conference in London in 2014.
